Step onto your mat and into the myth of Inanna for a soul triptease. This is a 30 minute yoga ritual to release all of the attachements that dampen your truth. Ready to move and breathe with an ancient Sumerian Queen ? ✨ HISTORY REFRESHER, THE MYTH OF INANNA’S DESCENT This archetypical story draws its roots from Ancient Sumer, a civilisation that roamed the earth between 5300BC and 1940BC.The story goes that Inanna, Queen of Heaven and Earth, willingly descends into the Underworld to meet her sister Ereshkigal, Queen of Death. At each of the seven gates, she surrenders a piece of her royal identity: her crown, jewels, robe, voice, protection, and finally, her clothing. This is the shedding of ego and the unraveling of all false personas. (I’ve left out the lapel cloak in this flow to avoid repetition in movement, while still honoring the overall symbolic narrative.) After arriving naked and bowed before her sister, Inanna undergoes a symbolic ego death lasting 3 days. After which she is revived with the help of her trusted friends. Her journey back is not a return to who she was, but an emergence into embodied wholeness. If her story resonates with you at this time, this could mean you are undergoing a sacred pause, suspended between past illusion and blooming truth.
